1/100 sec @ f/7.1 - 17mm on 17-40L

Avebury
03 May, 2006
This is my wife's favourite stone at Avebury for reasons that I'm not quite sure of. Quite lucky getting this as it was May Day and the whole site was teeming with people.

Obviously what doesn't show here is the sheer amount of detail the 5D gives in a 16bit TIFF. As I generally use a 17-40 at 17mm, a slimline circ. polariser was needed as my Jessops one intruded into the frame. One problem, however, is that at 17mm there's a fair amount of distortion at the frame edges. One cure I guess is a nice 21mm Zeiss prime but at circa $3,000 that's going to have to wait...

[I have a new monitor which I've left uncalibrated due to 'technical' issues in my attempt at such on my previous one - please let me know if there are colour casts etc. Cheers.]
