I normally scoot across this part of Dorset. I thought the groynes here were like most of the others along the Bosocmbe/Soutbourne/Hengistbury stretch but these have yet to be “improved”.

They are about 12 feet high or so and although part of them can be walked on, the part that juts out to sea has been blocked off for safety reasons. They are in a good state of distress - fishing nets and pieces of rope hang from them, and the wood is rotten and splintered.

The light, caused by a cloudless sunset, was similar to the light I saw on a dawn trip to Keyhaven a few months ago (clicky).
